Outrunning The Cancer Epidemic

Cancer has become more of an epidemic in our society over the years, even more so than in any other country. Why is that? Why is it that there weren’t many cases being diagnosed in the 1920’s? Why do we not hear more about people being diagnosed with cancers in Europe, Asia, etc.? In 2013, the American Cancer Society stated that over 1.6 million new cases of cancer were diagnosed. California led the way, followed by Florida, Texas and New York.

We all have cancer cells in our bodies. The real question is, what we can do to prevent them from being activated and spreading throughout our bodies? Your health is a reflection of how you choose to live and how you live, is a reflection of the choices you make!

On a daily basis, we are being bombarded by chemicals, pesticides, toxins, radiation, micro-organisms, bacteria, viruses, etc. You can’t see, hear or touch them, but they are out there. We can’t keep ourselves locked up and surrounded by a bubble, one hundred percent safe from every single thing knocking on our immune system’s door, but we can acknowledge the fact that we need to be more conscious in our choices we make regarding our health and maybe, even take a few steps to detox our bodies on some sort of scale, daily.

People at a higher risk to activating cancer cells are those who are imbalanced in key nutrients and hormones, overweight or obese, smoke or chew tobacco, eat too many refined sugars and grains, or are ingesting toxins in their food, water, air and medicines.

There are 7 smart steps that we can choose to take on a daily basis to help in preventing cancer…

1. Don’t smoke – Smoking cigarettes, tobacco, etc. all lend to the inhalation of carcinogens. These carcinogens can have an effect on your lungs and help eat away and degenerate your nerves over time. Solution? Learn to cut down on the amount of cigarettes you smoke a day. There are patches and electronic cigarettes available. Go see a Hypnotherapist to desensitize you from wanting/needing to smoke.

2. Maintain adequate iodine levels – Most people don’t know that you need healthy levels of iodine for your thyroid to work optimally. Being exposed to radiation, whether by an x-ray or by eating fish caught in the Pacific (having been exposed to radiation from Fukushima, Japan), these can lower the levels of iodine in your body. Being exposed to chlorine for long periods, whether in a hot tub or pool, can have the same effect.

Solution? Take a potassium iodide supplement every day. Eat fish caught in the Atlantic. Limit your time in the pool or hot tub to 20-30 minutes.

3. Avoid synthetic chemicals and GMOs in your food – Whenever possible, buy organic fruits and vegetables, grass-fed beef, free range/organic chicken and turkey, raw nuts, etc. Fish should be wild as opposed to farm raised.

The four most common food sensitivities in our society today are; wheat, corn, cow dairy and soy. These four groups are the most widely processed and genetically modified. Products with aspartame or sucralose are artificial in nature and can cause health issues ranging from neurological problems to digestive issues. High fructose corn syrup is another widely misunderstood product. It is not made from natural corn! It is a processed food stabilizer and artificial sweetener containing mercury. This helps to help stabilize the compound and food structure. Solution? Be more health-conscious about what you put in your body by looking at labels. Eat organic whenever possible. Only eat meat that is organic, grass-fed and free range.

4. Avoid refined sugars, salts, flours, and oils – Goes along with #3. People on average, ingest 150 pounds of sugar each year. Refined products are not naturally occurring in nature and can lead to digestive issues, ADD/ADHD, neurological problems, etc. Solution? Be more conscious about the food choices you make. Eat organic fruits. Eat only sugars that are natural, like cane sugar. Be aware when choosing a product with Stevia. It is a plant and naturally occurring in nature, but in our society, large companies like Coca Cola use a processed version of it for their own products. Make sure you look at the label to see if it’s natural and what product it is found in.

5. Avoid and remove toxic metals from your body – Metal toxicity comes mostly from the exposure to heavy metals such as: lead, aluminum, cadmium, arsenic, nickel and mercury. Nickel is found in most jewelry, dental procedures, etc. Mercury is the most toxic, non-radiated element on the planet. It is found mostly in vaccinations, metal dental fillings, high fructose corn syrup and fish (tuna having the highest levels). Solution? Eat fish with lower levels of mercury in it (tilapia, salmon, cod, etc.). If you need a dental filling, ask for the white porcelain material. Take a nutritional supplement like Chlorella and Milk Thistle, to help detox the body on a minor level.

6. Avoid radiation and EMF exposure (these include traditional x-rays, dental x-rays, micro waves and mammograms, cell phones, computers, tablet computers, etc.) – This is a tough one! Avoid it whenever possible. Solution? Use X-rays only when clinically significant. Take your cell phone out of your pocket when you’re not on the move. Limit your exposure by limiting your computer usage.

Thermography over mammogram? Do your research! Thermography is a good and healthier screening tool to check for breast cancer. Eating fish caught in the Atlantic, as opposed to the Pacific. Make sure you take adequate amounts of Potassium Iodide to help counteract the levels lost to help keep the thyroid functioning at optimal levels.

7. Test for vitamin and mineral deficiencies – Vitamin and mineral deficiencies will be found in many people in North America these days. Whether from nutrient-deficient foods due to processing and genetic modification, to radiation and EMF exposure, to fluoride being dumped into our drinking water, these deficiencies you’ll find most in our society… Iodine, Vitamin B12, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Vitamin B1, Vitamin D, Sulfur, Zinc, Chromium, Potassium. Solution? Make healthier choices about which foods you eat. Eat more organic! Eat more foods rich in vitamins and minerals more times a day. Eat more simple fruits (apples and berries) and green, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, kale, chard, mustard greens, asparagus, arugula, zucchini, etc.) Take a multi mineral supplement daily.
